This was the inaugural festival of the Thundering Women and the performer line-up was stellar. I seem to have missed a lot of the festival for one reason or another, but still managed to catch performances by the Wyrd Sisters (of course) along with other favourites: Darlene, Katherine Wheatley, Wendell Ferguson, Ember Swift and Laura Smith. Also finally had an opportunity to see Susan Aglukark and Jane Siberry perform live and was introduced to the music of an old classmate of mine from Queens, Nicky Mehta along with her band, the Wailin' Jennys and other wonderful and new to me sounds of Madrigaia, Barley Wik, Serena Ryder, Rita Chiarelli and SweetWater Women. My find of the weekend, however, was definitely a little band visiting us all the way from Australia known as Fruit.
